Distressed California Homeowners May Qualify for California’s Keep Your Home California Transition Assistance Program (TAP)For my financially distressed California clients that can no longer afford their homes and are pursuing a short sale or deed in lieu of foreclosure, you may be eligible for financial help with your relocation to alternative housing. The funds come from the Transition Assistance Program (TAP), part of the Keep Your Home California Program. Please be aware that the state of California is providing up to $5,000 in transition assistance to ‘qualified homeowners’ who can no longer afford to stay in their homes. If your situation fits this description, I’m advising my distressed clients that they must:• Apply for the funds through their state’s website or by calling 1.888.954.5337

• Maintain their property until their house is sold via a Short-Sale, or returned to the lender via a negotiated Deed in Lieu of Foreclosure.

For qualified homeowners, these state funds may be used in addition to any other transition assistance that you as a homeowner may receive by participating in the Federal Home Affordable Foreclosure Alternatives (HAFA) program or in any other pre-offer Short Sale program.

To learn more about the Transition Assistance Program’s guidelines, and how you may qualify, please visit that program’s website here.

You can also call 1.888.954.5337 and identify yourselves as a Bank of America customer.

SEARCHING FOR SIGNS OF DECEPTION

NEVER Pay Anyone Advance Fees offering to assist you with a loan modification.

Make no mistake, this is happening all over the country, not just here in Long Beach, California! We see these signs posted everywhere, if it sounds too good to be true, it’s not. Many unsuspecting homeowners fall victims to these scams.

There are things you can do and I highly recommend that you contact your lender(s) first, it takes time and effort, but hands down the best approach.  A Short-Sale is a last resort option, but only when all else fails. You owe it to yourself and your family to explore modifying the terms of your home mortgage by dealing directly with your lender first.  More details and suggested steps will be posted later on this site about what you can do as a homeowner to explore the possibilities of a loan modification.

In the meantime, should you have any immediate questions about Short Sales or Loan Modifications, please feel free to contact me.  I will be more than happy to discuss and explain to you the best options available in your situation with no strings attached, costs, or obligation. You can reach me directly at the telephone number below.

KEEP YOUR HOME CALIFORNIA

California Has Nearly $2 Billion In Funds To Help Eligible Homeowners Keep Their Homes

Eighteen states, including California, have been designated as “hardest hit,” either because they are struggling with unemployment rates at or above the national average or steep home price declines since the housing market downturn. The Hardest Hit Fund® was provided by the federal government to provide targeted aid to families in these states.
